Add Accents and Dialects

How much of an audiobook are you confident you could narrate adequately in this English accent or dialect?

This question is about the accents or dialects you can do (in English). In the left-hand column, select your Narrator Name, then an accent, and then your proficiency in that accent. Then click Submit.

DON’T FORGET YOUR NATIVE ACCENT!
(So Australian or New Zealand and ‘Native Speaker’)

NOTE – At present the drop-down list doesn’t show all options, so it might be better to type in the accent name. These are all listed below. (I’m working on fixing this!)

Once you add an accent, the form will reset so you can add another. Keep adding accents until you’ve selected all the ones you can do.

The levels of proficiency to choose from are:

  • Entire Audiobook (Native Speaker) – you grew up speaking in this accent/dialect.
  • Entire Audiobook (Non-native Speaker) – you can do both narration and all characters in this accent.
  • Major Characters – you can proficiently do more than 30 lines in this accent in an audiobook.
  • Minor Characters – you can ‘adequately’ do up to about 30 lines in this accent in an audiobook.

The accents you can currently choose from are:

New Zealand
Australian
Canadian
Indian
South American
South African
Mexican
Russian
Italian
Spanish
German
French
Welsh
Scottish
Irish
UK – Northern
UK – Cockney
UK – Standard British/RP/BBC
US – New York
US – Southern
US – Standard American

If there are any additional accents you can do that aren’t listed above, use the Contact form to let me know what they are and your proficiency.

Once you have finished adding all the accents you speak, click on Continue to move to the next question.
